Private School Specializing in One-to-One Instruction for 1st-12th Grade Students

National – Brightmont Academy, a nationally accredited private school that offers a flexible, customized learning alternative to traditional schools, is celebrating 25 years of empowering students to achieve their full potential. Brightmont has grown from a single location to a nationally recognized institution with 20 campuses across eight states.

Karen Buckner, CEO of Brightmont, reflects on the academy's journey and its impact over the past quarter-century. "The change that we’ve seen in 25 years of Brightmont has been outstanding. When Brightmont started it was one school in the Seattle area. Now we are opening our 20th location soon, and we are in eight states in four time zones. We will probably serve over 1,400 students this year. The success has been phenomenal, allowing us to impact the lives of students all across the country."

Despite the evolution and expansion, the core mission of Brightmont remains unchanged. "The thing I love is that the original mission of Brightmont was to employ a one-to-one instructional model and show kids that they can be successful, that they can move at their own pace and not be afraid of a classroom in ways that may have been impossible previously. I’m thrilled that the mission has remained unchanged for 25 years," says Buckner.

As Brightmont celebrates this milestone, it also reflects on the journey that has led to its continued success. Buckner notes, "Companies that survive 25 years adjust. Because we recognized the landscape changed, we were able to continue to impact children through COVID-19, through other changes in state standards, and delivery adaptations. We have adapted all through that and succeeded and thrived. Our one-to-one instruction that serves kids where they are is more valuable than it has ever been."

In addition to its 25th anniversary, Brightmont recently exceeded accreditation standards, scoring above national averages in every category. The findings highlight the school’s commitment to student well-being and its mission to provide one-to-one instruction tailored to individual needs. Brightmont's supportive environment fosters positive relationships and equitable learning opportunities, enabling students to reach their full potential. By emphasizing strong connections, Brightmont has created a space where students can thrive academically and personally.

Brightmont Academy is located in eight states and is currently accepting enrollments.
