Brightmont Academy Encourages Families to Register Early for Summer Programs

Birmingham Private School Specializing in One-to-One Instruction for Grades 1-12

Birmingham, MI — Studies show that students can lose significant academic skills during the summer, often two to three months in math and one to two months in reading—a trend known as the “summer slide.” To help students stay engaged in learning and continue building their confidence, Brightmont Academy urges families to plan ahead and register early for its Summer Programs.

“March is a great time to visit the Birmingham Campus to inquire about summer learning opportunities,” said Annette Looser, Campus Director of Brightmont Birmingham. “By planning early, families can enjoy their vacations and camps while also adding in educational sessions to help prevent the summer slide.”

Brightmont offers flexible learning options for students in kindergarten through 12th grade, providing one-to-one instruction customized to each student’s academic needs and goals. “Many families choose summer sessions for math, writing, reading, and executive functioning support,” Looser said. “It’s a great way to keep students progressing while still leaving time for summer fun.”

Brightmont’s summer programs are designed to help students strengthen foundational skills, recover credits, or get ahead for the upcoming school year. For younger students, these sessions often focus on targeted skill-building such as handwriting, reading comprehension, writing development, and math fundamentals. For high school students, Brightmont provides academic support to help them stay on track for graduation and college readiness. “Many students attend for ACT/SAT prep, summer math tutoring, credit acceleration or recovery, and reading intervention,” Looser added. “We truly have something for everyone.”

Brightmont Academy is located at 746 E Maple Rd. in Birmingham and is currently accepting enrollments. Families and professionals are invited to attend an Open House event on Thursday, March 19, 2026, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. RSVP here.

Brightmont Academy is an accredited private school that provides one-to-one instruction. One experienced teacher works with one student throughout every learning session.
