Private School in Northville Specializes in Making 1st-12th Grade Students Comfortable

Northville, MI – About 15% of students ages 3-21 have a disability that affects their academic performance. Special Education Day is celebrated on December 2nd, which commemorates the anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act that was signed into law in 1975.

Brightmont Academy is a nationally accredited private school that offers a flexible, customized learning alternative to traditional schools. One experienced teacher works with one student throughout every learning session. As we honor the achievements in special education within public schools, Brightmont Academy stands out as an invaluable resource, empowering public schools and students alike with tailored learning programs, dedicated support, and innovative teaching methods, ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive. “We get to know each student as both a learner and as a person. We meet students where they are, design and provide an education tailored to their learning styles and learning needs. We support them daily in a small environment (certainly compared to a public school or even compared to smaller, self-contained special education classes or schools). We help them to feel comfortable about coming into school and then help them to feel good about the progress they make,” said Carol Buresh, Special Education Administrator at Brightmont Academy.

This proven model effectively serves students who have learning difficulties, those who want to accelerate their studies, and those whose needs aren’t met in traditional schools. Brightmont Academy is known for being a tool in the public system’s toolbox for educating students outside the norm. Buresh adds, “The key is communication and building a personal relationship between Brightmont staff and the District representatives. Communication can be phone, email, text or in person and happens on a regular / as needed basis. The relationships built help the students in that there is usually always an open, honest, and ongoing discussion regarding a student's needs, where they are functioning currently and where we (parents, school, Brightmont, student) want them to progress”.

Brightmont Academy is located at 15374 N. Haggerty Road in Northville and is currently accepting enrollments.

Brightmont Academy is an accredited private school that provides one-to-one instruction. One experienced teacher works with one student throughout every learning session. Customized full-time programs and individual courses are offered for grades 1-12. Students can also receive individualized tutoring for all 1-12 subjects, study skills, and test prep. Brightmont Academy has served thousands of students since 1999, and has 16 campuses in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and Washington.
