Private School in Plymouth Specializes in Making 1st-12th Grade Students Comfortable

Plymouth, MN – With schools abruptly closing in 2020 due to COVID-19, there is a new crisis: school avoidance. The pandemic has led to an increase in students avoiding or refusing to go to in-person school, with mental health as the driving factor. In the past year, 28% of high school students have missed school due to anxiety or being sad/depressed.

Brightmont Academy is a nationally accredited private school that offers a flexible, customized learning alternative to traditional schools. One experienced teacher works with one student throughout every learning session. Brightmont Academy's safe learning environment and supportive teachers are integral to the emotional well-being of all students, including those with anxiety and/or depression. “My goal for any student who has avoided school is for them to feel comfortable in our environment. We actively work with students to find ways for school to be less stressful for them. I allow snacks, short breaks, different lighting, etc. in our classrooms, and of course our teachers are cognizant of building a positive relationship with students,” said Jennifer Sorenson, Campus Director of the Plymouth location.

New students can enroll at any time with open enrollment all throughout the school year. Brightmont Academy is open year-round and offers customized scheduling, allowing students the flexibility to balance priorities. Brightmont Academy allows the option for students to start online or at school for one hour a day until they are comfortable doing a full day of school with the goal of returning to public school. This proven model effectively serves students who deal with school avoidance. Sorenson adds, “If a parent has a child who is experiencing school avoidance, my best advice is to act as soon as possible. The longer a student is out of school, the harder it is for them to return to a learning environment. If the current learning situation is not working, work to find an alternative, like Brightmont Academy, that specializes in helping meet student's individual needs”.

Brightmont Academy's Plymouth campus is located at 2855 Glacier Lane N, Suite 200 and is currently accepting enrollments.

Brightmont Academy is an accredited private school that provides one-to-one instruction. One experienced teacher works with one student throughout every learning session. Customized full-time programs and individual courses are offered for grades 1-12. Students can also receive individualized tutoring for all 1-12 subjects, study skills, and test prep. Brightmont Academy has served thousands of students since 1999, and has 16 campuses in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and Washington.
