Language Barriers in Education...

December 19, 2023

We had an interesting story roll in this week to the marketing department.  At our campus in Barrington we have one international student who is still learning English. He is an advanced student and very bright.  In a traditional school model it might be difficult for this kid to stay on track and learn and grow because of the language barrier.

At Brightmont, the solution was easy.  The teacher assigned to this student knew Chinese!  Take a look at what we found on the wall of the classroom!

We serve students from all over the world.  We even have international students.

There are international students that take our classes online.  There are international students that take classes in person at one of our 16 soon-to-be 18 campuses.

It puts a smile on our faces to know we are helping kids learn whether it is traditionally or non-traditionally.  The important thing is the learning and the belonging.  This kid knows he has a home here and feels like he belongs here.

If you have a student that English is their second language you should look into what we could offer your student.  We have skill building classes that could help your child excel no matter what level they are on.  Many families start out with just one class and find that they want to enroll for more.  Thirty percent of our full-time students nationwide started out in just one skill building class.

Right on this topic, next year we are starting a campus in Miami, Florida!  In Miami, there are a lot of Spanish speaking families so we are preparing our staff to be able to serve those children.

Language is not a barrier here at Brightmont Academy.
