Apple Valley Featured Student
Accomplished Flautist Faith
Faith is a full-time student at the Apple Valley campus who has a passion for music. The customized academic program at Brightmont allows her to earn high school credits more quickly than a traditional school, and gives her more time to focus on her flute. Her goal is to graduate a year early, in the spring of 2017, and pursue her music studies in college.
Faith has had many achievements in music as she prepares for her career. In addition to an exhausting daily practice regimen, Faith prepares for multiple performances, auditions for elite ensemble and orchestral positions such as the National Youth Orchestra, and recordings necessary for her college pre-audition applications. Brightmont is able to reduce her daily class attendance requirement so that she has more time to build her flute repertoire.
As Faith works toward graduating from high school a year early, she is hoping this will give her access to even more advanced instruction in college. Brightmont teaches to mastery, enabling students to advance more quickly when they understand the content being taught and can demonstrate mastery, typically by scoring 80% or higher on tests and assignments. Through her hard work and persistent effort, Faith has soared through the high school curriculum and is on track to reach her goal of earning her diploma in the spring of 2017.
“I don’t know what I’d do without Brightmont,” says Faith. “Another type of schooling wouldn’t allow me to achieve everything I’m trying to do with flute.”
