Apple Valley Featured Student
Accomplished Flautist Faith
Faith is Brightmont Academy alumna who studied full-time at the Apple Valley campus while pursuing her passion for music. The customized academic program at Brightmont allowed her to earn high school credits more quickly than a traditional school, and gives her more time to focus on her flute. She accomplished her goal of graduating a year early, in the spring of 2017, and is pursuing her music studies in college.
Faith has had many achievements in music as she prepares for her career. In addition to an exhausting daily practice regimen, Faith has prepared for multiple performances, auditions for elite ensemble and orchestral positions such as the National Youth Orchestra, and recordings necessary for her college pre-audition applications. Brightmont was able to reduce her daily class attendance requirement so that she has more time to build her flute repertoire.
Graduating from high school a year early, has given Faith the opportunity to access more advanced instruction in college. Brightmont teaches to mastery, enabling students to advance more quickly when they understand the content being taught and can demonstrate mastery, typically by scoring 80% or higher on tests and assignments. Through her hard work and persistent effort, Faith soared through the high school curriculum and reached her goal of earning her diploma in the spring of 2017.
“I don’t know what I’d do without Brightmont,” says Faith. “Another type of schooling wouldn’t allow me to achieve everything I’m trying to do with flute.”
